Before you start this process, you must have the following:

  1. Android SDK Tools installed. See “SDK Tools” on page 4.
  2. Nexus Root Toolkit installed. See “Installing Nexus Root Toolkit” on page 8.
  3. Install Google USB Driver from Android SDK.

If you have all the prerequisites installed, start at “Unboxing” on page 9.  SDK Tools

  1. Copy “M:\tools\Android SDK\android-sdk_r23.0.2-windows\android” to “C:\android”.
  2. Execute “C:\android\android-sdk\SDK Manager.exe”
  3. Click “Deselect All”.
  4. Open the Tools directory and select:
  5. Android SDK Tools
  6. Android SDK Platform-tools
  7. Android SDK Build-tools (highest version)
  8. Click “Install x Packages”. “x” will be 2 or 3 depending on what is already present on the PC.
  9. Click “Accept License”.
  10. Click “Install”.
  11. Wait while the packages are downloaded and installed.
  12. If the Android SDK Manager Log appears, click “Close”.
  13. When the packages are installed, the Android SDK Manager will say “Don loading packages.” Click the “X” icon to close the Android SDK Manager.

The SDK Tools are now installed.  Installing Nexus Root Toolkit

  1. Download the Nexus Root Toolkit from ​http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/. The latest as of the time this was written was 1.8.6.
  2. Execute the downloaded exe file.
  3. Click “Install”
  4. If prompted by UAC, click “Yes”.
  5. Wait for the toolkit to install.

The Nexus Root Toolkit is now installed.
